BOWLING.

(By “Toucher.”) Play on the Turanganui green has"" been of a quiet nature during the past week, no match games being played. Interest in the championship is dyinv down, it being almost a certainty io? Martin, who has only four games to play, and who has not yet sustained defeat. It is a matter for regret that the Turanganui Club will not be represented at the Napier Carnival Tournament. 1 understand the best players were not available for the trip, and the club were perforce compelled to abandon the idea of sending a rink. The Handicap Fours at the Turanganui green are still hung up, owing to Gaud in, one of the skips, being at way at Opotiki. I would suggest that the annual game between the two local clubs bo arranged for as soon as possible. Tho season is getting on, and it will not be long before the warm weather will be altogether gone. Generally tho first game eventuates on the Gisborne green, with the return match on the luraiiganui. I think this course should be again followed. As the Gisborne club is inviting the Avairoa bowlers to play at Kaiti, I would suggest that a similar invitation be extended by the Turanganultes for a match on their green. The competition for Mr 1. S. Simson’s gold medal is expected to be got under way very shortly, the committee having yet to decide what form the competition will take. I hear that Mr C. Morse has donated a walking stick for competition to the Turanganui club, and that it is not unlikely that the new game of points will be played for ' the trophy. 'Hie Gisborne club is at present working up considerable interest amongst it’s members. The Shield matches were commenced on Thursday but unfortunately cut short bv a down pour of rain. F. Martin and I’onsford have both been practising assiduously of late, and both are showing capital form. Witty has been nlaving remarkably well during the past week and must be reckoned with in the various contests. lap Simpson has been away up the Coast but has returned and is taking every opportunity to practice. The club is likely to send a very strong contingent to Napier. Members appreciate the action of Mr Morgan in presenting the club with a dozen measures for loan to players.
