AMONG THE FLOCKS OF ENGLAND.
AN EPOCH-MAKING SALE. “A salo that iviJl go clown in history as a monument to the pat. on t skill and consistent management oi Mr. H. Dudding, his father, and grandfather ;a sale at which those who were privileged to bo prer out v. d! never forget,” are the words in which the Farmer and Stockbreeder describes the record-breaking Riby Grovo sale of Lincolu sheep, which took place at the homestead of Air. Henry Dudding on Thursday. July 12, 1906. On two previous occasions did rams fcred by Air. Dudding reach the splendid price of one thousand guineas- - viz., in tho years 189 S and 1900. But at the sale under review these high figures wore entirely eclipsed, his highest-priced ram on this occasion realising the record figure of 1450guineas—the highest price ever paid ' for a longwool sheep. What a man of Mr. Dudding's attainments as a sheepbreedcr may have to say regarding the method of handling his flock should bo of the greatest possiblo interest to every 'look-ow-ner. Like every other sheep enthusiast who has climbed to the highest rung of the ladder in his_ profession, ho is a consistent believer in the value of a scientifically-prepared sheep dip for the production of a perfect fleece of wool ; and after many and extended experiments in this connection Air. Dudding, writing to Alessrs Quibell Bros. (Ltd.), of Newark, in reference to their ‘’lmproved” Powder oheep Dip a few weeks before the sale abovementioned, states that he ‘‘cannot, speak too highly of its quality for killing filth, preventing tho attack oi maggot fly, and improving the fleece •of wool.” Such a verdict, coming from I heman who can rightly be styled the “king” of long-wool sheep-breeders, •ought to commend itself to every man who wishes to make tho most of his flock-
