THE MAYORALTY.
A “Times” reporter waited on Cr. W. Miller yesterday morning in reference to a rumor that there was a possibility of his contesting the Alayoral seat. “1 have been approached by sonic of the leading citizens,” replied Air. ■Milior, “but having definitely made arrangements in regard to an extended trip abroad, 1 could not give the matter any serious thought.” Asked as to what was being (lone in regard to the vacancy that will occur on Air. Townlcy’s retirement, Air. Miller said: “It is pretty well certain that there will bo more than one candidate in the field, but as iar as I know, nothing has been decided as yet.” . As to bis trip, Air. Miller stated that lie intends leaving on Saturday, March 28th, with Air. Geo. Coop, of AYaingnke. They leave Sydney by the Prince Sigismund on April 7th, for "Hong Kong, via Batavia and Manila. A month will be spent in China and Japan, when the party will catch a boat from Yokohama to Vancouver, and some time is to be spent in Canada ' and the United States, after which the two gentlemen proceed to Great Britain, whore ten weeks aro to bo spent in sightseeing, etc. The principal cities of the Continent will be visited, and the party return via Naples anil Suez, in about ten months’ time.
