Ids AUCURAL MEETING.

The inaugural meeting of the ALastertou Fire Board, was held, to-day. Messrs Alaliard, Simpson, and Ewe.n, representing the insurance companies doing business in the town. Air. 0. I’ragnell, the Government representative on the Board, was elected chairman, and Air. S. Brown, late down Clerk, secretary. Local members were appointed a committee to have a valuation made of the (ire brigade plant and to prepare the estimates of expenditure for next year lor submission to the next meeting. It was decided to invite applications for the positions of superintendent and deputy superintendent, at salaries of £<j(j and £25 per annum respectively. ft was only after considerable discussion that a motion was carried allowing representatives of the press to attend the meeting of the Board.
