Pnvlinment. met at noon, and alter members had been sworn m, the Assembly proceeded with the election of the Speaker. Each party pnt torward a nominee and this lead to a deadlock, the Labor party and the Opposition combining aga nst tin Government, the Government and Opposition against Labor, and the Labor and the Government against the Opposition. All three nominations were negatived, and the House adjourned till 3 p.m. to try and reach n compromise. ~ , On re-assembluig the Government and the Labor party each submitted a nominee, but both were again defeated by the former combination.
