SPORTS AND PASTIMES.
GniiiKLT. Owing to rain, tlio Cup matches at Victoria Domain and Tnruhoru were postponed on Saturday. Two matches have been arranged by the J’ovevty Hay Cricket Association with the cricket eleven of J. C. 'Williamson’s “Blue Moon” Company. The company have a properly organised cricket club, and play matches at all the towns they visit. The following local elevens have been chosen to play against the “Blue Moon” Company at Victoria Domain on Tuesday and Wednesday next, play commencing at 10.30 a.m. each day : Tuesday's eleven: llallamore, 3. Wack. Marker, J. Hang, Miller, W. Gibson, Grinlinton. R. Coop, Glennie, Doyle, and H. Putlett, Wednesday’s eleven: Cary, Mon'k, H. AVack, Sharp, Chapman, Bowman, H. Alaudc; G. Coop, Moore, Reynolds, and Oliver. The teams dine together each day at the Record Reign Hotel. Any player unable to take part in the matches is requested to immediately inform the lion, secretary of the Association (Mr. 1. G. Grinlinton). THE GAME IN AUCKLAND. Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 16. The seventh round of the cricket championship was commenced yesterday, in ideal weather. City, playing Ponsonby, made 76 in the first innings, and L’onsonby have lost six wickets for .113 ill their first innings. D. Gallagher 76, Robinson 2.1, and Jacobsen 20 were top scorers for Ponsonby, while White (4 wickets for 24, and Jacobsen (5 for 27). bowled well for Ponsonby. Parnell, playing Eden, arc all out in the first innings for 144, Barry 48, Breeso not out 25, and Dinnison 24 being toil scorers. Relf took 7 wickets for 50 runs for Eden. Eden have lost 2 wickets for 70 runs hi their first innings, Brook-Smith 39 being the best score. Grafton against North Shore made 2L5 in their first innings, Sloman 80. Mason 36, iS. Jones 30, and La wry 20 being the top scorers. H.iddon look four Grafton wickets for 40 runs. North Shore have 3 wickets down for 39, Mason securing the 3 wickets for 13 runs.
