A QUARRELSOME COUNCIL.

■ Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, Feb. 14. Another meeting of the Borough .ouncil was held to-night, but the ieadlock still continues. The coundlors were prepared to do business, 11 d certain routine business was .’ansacted. At the previous meeting :ie councillors transacted business ithout- the Mayor, and he refused > confirm the minutes of the busiess. Councillors waived the point, ■at- when it came to an issue, once lore, on the vexed question of re- , fading the main street, as recommended by the works committee, the uiyor refused to" accept- the reeomlendation of the committee. On ae Mayor s refusal, councillors ljeffc tie table, and refused to transact j irtlier -business. There were a number of burgesses present, and the Mayor then proceeded to address them, criticising the conduct of the councillors. Councillors are very strong in their condemnation of. the Mayor’s conduct, and there is no hope -at present of a settlement of the difficulty.
