There wore large entries at Messrs K. S. Malcolm and Co.’s sale on Saturday. Every lino was cleared and Mr. Malcolm states that ho could sell ten times the quantity of frut now available. Tho Wednesday sale is to be continued. HOUSES. There was a a big attendance at the Lowe street Horse Bazaar on Saturday, and the large entry of SO mot with good sale. Thirty light half-draught horses wore submitted, and the host of them sold at from .£2O to £24. Superior hacks brought £lB to £25, ordinary hacks £8 to £l2, poorer hacks 15s to £5. CUSTOMS. The following revenue was received at the Custom House last week: — Customs duties £SO4 6s Od, light dues £IS 12s 2d, shipping lees 3s, Harbor Board revenue £174 2s sd, total £997 4s 4d. STOCK SALES. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on the stock sale held on Wednesday, sth February, 190 S. Attracted no doubt by the largo entry advertised, the attendance was larger than usual, ind although there were many prospective buyers present, for the most part they held off. The drawback appears to be not so much the present shortage of ieetl as the fear that if tho much-needed rains are not soon enjoyed, winter feed must bo scarce. SHEEP. Yarded 5017; sold 2006. Included in our entry was the annual draft of tho well-known Ngatapa ewes, with tho exception of the five-year-old ewes, these all sold at good prices. taking into consideration the fall in values compared with last year. The following were the day s prices:—2-tooth ewes 14s 3d to 14s Gd 4-tooth ewes 14s, 6 and S tooth 11s, full-mouth ewes 10s, cull ewes / s Id fat ewes 10s Od to 11s 3d. Avo also sold a few Shropshire rams at 1 guinea, hut it is rather cailj jet for rams. CATTLE. Only a- small entry. We yarded 9< and sold 56. There appears to he no demand for anything hut grown steers. Sales comprised: d hree-vear-old forward bullocks at £o lbs, two-vear-olds £3 15s to £3 17s 6d, hut these were of poor quality. • Our next sale will be held on \\ ednesdnv, 12th February. It is to be hoped the rain will come before then. LONDON WOOL SALES. United Press Association—Copyright (Received Feb. 9, 5.45 p.m.) LONDON, Feb S. Tho wool sold for home consumption totalled 20,000 bales, Continent 70,000, America 6000, held over 3100. Compared with the December sales, best greasy merinos was nearly 5 per cent dearer. Good scoureds were 5 per cent lower, and faulty 7\ to 10 per cent lower. Fine crossbreds were firm, and medium inferior 10 per cent lower. Scoureds, especially faulty, were 10 per cent lower.
