ROAD MAINTENANCE.
A COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY. 1 Press Association. j NAPIER, Feb. 5. A commission of enquiry was held to-day, before Ah-. W. S. Short-,'so-licitor for the Roads Department, as to a question of road maintenance, the road in question being the E6kdalo Polmi road, at present maintained by the Hawke’s Bar Council. It was argued for that bocjy that- as a portion of tho road was within the Wairoa County, the valuation of the property in that- county, to which tho road gave access and on which tho W a iron County Council received the rates, being £241.060 as against a valuation of £136,213 of the property ill the Hawke’s Bay county, the V airoa County Council should bear half the cost of maintenance. After evidence had been given, the Com-: missionor announced that liis decision would bo forwarded in duo course.
