N.Z. RAILWAY SERVANTS.
PRESENTATION TO THE PREMIER. Press Association. WELLINGTON. Feb. 5. Sir Joseph Ward, Premier and Minister of Railways, was waited upon at his residence this evening by delegates from the Amalgamated. Society of Railway Servants, and presented with an address on behalf of the members. Toe address was in album form, in red morocco, with heliotrope mounting, and is handsomely illustrated and embroidered with kowai flowers and views of N.Z. scenery. It states that -the members of the society wish to convey their high appreciation of tho many and valued concessions which -Sir Joseph Ward has secured for tho service during tho periods he has been the Ministerial head of the department. ‘■Bv resolution of the society it has boon resolved to present to you this address in appreciation of your successful efforts in establishing the Government Railway Superannuation Fund, tho raising of the standard of wages, the introduction of tho 48 hours’ week for the staff, and the many other concessions which the servico now enjoys. The rapid expansion of the service during the past few years has imposed upon us more arduous duties and responsibilities, but it lias been to us a- matter of great congratulation in feeling that you have ever extended to the staff a kindly and considerate feeling, which is deeply appreciated. We also desire to congratulate you upon your accession to tho Premiership, and trust that you may be spared . for many years in which to continue your good work in the interests of tho Dominion and its people.”
