Good weather was experienced, for tho major part of the trip, ■blit' rain was met with on Friday afternoon, passing Mr.. Jex Blake’s place. Spoaking of tho country passed through. Mr. Carroll said: —“After we left'To Aral and got to Opouiti on the other side, where the settlors went into the bush and, dealt with it in a practical way, with the result observable now. Tho change lias been simply marvellous. I consider that it is the finest stock country I have seen anywhere in the district. The settlers deserve every credit- lor tlio bold and courageous manner in which they tackled the crude and primitive condition of things. It is a great country, and it will carry a tremendous number of stock. It is very rugged and very broken, but still as such, with the temperature, that prevails there, it- must always provide good feed for stock.
