AIATAWHERO STOCK SALE,

There was a small attendance at the weekly stock sale held at Alatawliero yesterday. The stock offered was of good quality, but most of it was passed in, the supply being greater than tho demand. This was probably accounted for by tbo fact that the long-continued dry weather is making farmers chary of buying stock, owing to the scarcity of good food. About 3600 sheep were submitted, but most were passed in, as also were the store cattle offered. There was little demand for fat sheep, but prime Jambs .sold fairly well. Following are the principal sales:—

Sheep: 23 fat ewes 11s, S fat lambs 12s, 10 fat lambs 11s, 50 fullmouthed ewes Ss, 193 full-mouthed ewes 9s Id, 42 old ewes 4s 3d, 60 store two-tooth wethers 10s 6d, 41 full-mouthed - . ewes 7s, 145 soundmouthed ewes 7s 7d, 90 two, four, six. and eight tooth ewes 8s 3d, 49 store lambs 8s 6d. Sixty-seven twotooth Romney rams were offered on account of "Air. 0. Duncan, and passed in at £3 3s. Cattle: 8 fat speyed cows £4 10s, 2 fat bullocks £6 10s, 1 store steer £4, 1 beef cow £3, 2 store heifers in calf £3 2s 6d. After the sale 7 fat speyed cows wore sold at £4 10s, and 31 steers at £3 15s. Pigs: Three were offered, but elicited no bid. Horses: Several draughts sold at prices ranging from £3O to £lO 10;;.
