HASTINGS RAM FAIR.

RECORD ENTRY AND SATISFACTORY PRICES. Press Association. NAPIER, Jan. 30.

The annual ram fair was commenced at Hastings to-day. The entry was a record one. All the stud rams and tlio shearling and two-shear Lincoln and Romney fiock rams were offered to-day. Other llock rams will bo submitted to-morrow. There was a large attendance of buyers, and satisfactory prices were realised. Lincoln studs sold up to 53 guineas, which was obtained for a shearling bred by Mr. W. Raynor, of Masterton, 52 guineas being realised for a shearling bred by the New Zealand and Australian Land Co., who got 49 guineas for another shearling. Mr. T. Tanner’s studs sold up to 47 guineas, and Mr. W. Perry obtained 4(5 guineas, 40gns, 32gns, .28gns, 27gns, and 25gns for six of liis studs. The highest price for one of Mr. Bland Raynor’s studs was 27 guineas. Flock Lincolns ranged up to 11 guineas, and Romney Marsh flocks sold up to 9 guineas, "this sum being realised for ten shearlings bred by Mr. AY. E. B{dwell, AVainuapa. Romney Marsh studs brought up to 45 and 32 guineas, both prices being for rams bred by Mr. E. J. Riddiford, Lower Hutt. Only four Border Leicester studs were sold, these going up to 4-J guineas. The top price for South Downs was 14 guineas, for one of Mr. Geo. Rhodes’ rams.
