BOWLING.
On the Tut an gan-ui' Club’s green yesterday two games in the BennettCup and gold medal competition were played. Ratcliffe met M. Nasmith, jun., and went ahead with a four and a three on the first two heads. On the-third head Ratcliffe was seven to his opponent’s one. Some excellent play followed, 'and Nasmith, playing an uphill game, ■was 12 on the 16th head to Ratcbffe’s 13. On the following head Ratcliffe scored three, ar.d scoring on the following three heads won by 21 to 13. The game between McConnell and Bennett was keen from the start. On the fourth head Bennett was fou-r_to his opponent’s two, and on the 7th head AlcConnell was 9 and Bennett l ; but on the 11th head tho score was 11 all, and on the 15th head 13 all. On the three following heads Bennett scored, AlcConnell responding on the two following heads, the core on the 20th head -being—AlcConnell 17, Bennett 16. 'Bennett nade the scores equal on the 21st head. An extra head was played to decide the game. Bennett, with .a lovely bowl, drew the shot, -but AlcConnell with his last bowl- drew nar.ow, wicked a, ball, ran on to- the hot, and scored the .point necessary ..> win.
