A welcome change in the weather occurred this afternoon, when showers began to fall, -and by 7 o’clock heavy main net- in, with every prospect of continuing over might, at t»ast to all appeal ances. The i.ill is general throughout the country, and though it cannot now help crops,-food andpasture and' root crops will be greatly benefited ,aiul it is expected that store sheep will advance m price im-medw-telv. OAMARU, Jan. 16. Rain commenced to fall heavily at 4 p.in. to-day, and continued till 3 p.m., with every prospect oi a further tall. Root crops and pastures will be benefited, but cereal crops without rain promise good yields, most parte of aho district being above the average, and the oat crops good weather, will be considerably abo.o the average, and the oats crops aro good.
