GOVERNMENT TO THROW OPEN LARGE AREA. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, J an. 13. The Government will bo offering .some 37,000 acres of land for selection during tho next 2 months The Pourerere settlement of 2000 odtl acres about 20 miles from AVaipoia will be disposed of oil 22nd January. Sjx days later the Rewi settlement of 1700 acres near Hamilton will be offered, as well as 3500 acres of Rsumati settlement, Hawke’s Bay. On 3rd February the Otekaimc settlement, 29,925 acres, _2S miles ‘■'rom Duntroon, Otago, will be aviih'oio. In tlie case of all these Luds Lie lease will be for 33 years with a perpetual right of renewal. Preference undc-r the now Land Act. will be given to married men with families anti to unsuccessful applicants at previous ballots.
