•Air. C. A. Skinner, at present draughtsman in Colonel 1 Winter’s fice, leaves to-morrow en route . Melbourne. Constable McPherson, of Napier, is at present in Gisborne on relieving duty, .and in all probability will bo stationed 1 here permanently. Before commencing the regular business of the meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board yesterday, ihc Commissioner mentioned the recent resignation of Air. C. R. Baines from the Board, lie moved that Ills past services he placed on record in the Board’s minutes. Air. Groome •; id Air. Baines hail been able to help the Board greatly by reason ol' the tact that he was well versed in matters pertaining to land- and stock'. Air. llyclo said All'. Baines was eligible for re-election by the Crown tenants of the district, ami he expressed the opinion that if he stood lie would have a good chance of being reappointed.
Air. T. Corson has been appointed secretary of the newly-formed Master Butchers’ Association. Sergeant Williams is 'at present on a visit- of inspection to the coast stations.
