Drunkenness. —John Wilson was convicted of being found drunk in i.i public place, and was lined 10s, with 2s costs, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment.—James Lamb on a similar charge was fined the same amount, and two first offenders were eadh lined ss, with 2s costs, or in default 2:1 hours’ imprisonment. Refusing to quit Licensed Premises.—Charles Daniels, alias Cucumber, a-Solomon Islander, appeared on remand to answer a charge of having refused to leave the Coronation Hotel when requested to do so. Accused pleaded guilty and was represented by Air R. U. Burke, who asked that a nominal penalty bo imposed. Counsel pointed out that • i.n umber of other charges arising out of the same disturbance hiitf,already been heard and-accused had been heavily lined. —His Worship . acceded to counsel’s request and, accused was lined 10s with 2s costs.
Prohibition Order. —An application for a prohibition order was opposed by defendant who was represented by Air AY. L. Rees. Defendant’s daughter was the applicant and stated that since December 22, when a previous order expired, defendant had been drinking heavily to tlio injury of his health. Defendant denied the allegations of drunkenness recently, and stated that drink did not interfere with his occupation or injure his health in any way. His Worship after hearing the evidence decided that the application should be granted and an order was issued accordingly.
