Interviewed by a “Alanawatu Times” reporter, a well-known "hearer of 20 years’ standing declared that there was nothing in the shearers’ demands that competent men wanted. There was no demand on the part of tho men for preference to unionists, limitation of learners, or the (lagging clause. What the men did want was a fixed standard rate. The shearers no more desired the other regulations than did the sheenqwnors.
