Dr. Bakewell, of Auckland, who visited U 7 anganui for the express purpose of inquiring into the local fasting cases, which have been the subject of widespread publicity throughout tlie Dominion, left for his home to-day-. The doctor interviewed alt! the persons who have fasted, and made a careful examination of each case. He found all persons interested perfectly frank, and while not courting notoriety quite willing to give him all jiossiblo information. As a result of his inquiries Dr. Bakewell authorises the Chronicle to say that- he is perfectily satisfied as to the bona tides of every ease which came under his notice. He no longer doubts the genuineness of the fasts, and considers that what he has seen and heard is sufficient to warrant him in making a thorough scientific study of the whole question. He proposes to devote considerable time to this work, and noon its completion he will embody the result of his investigations, together with the conclusions at which lie arrives, in a series of articles for the press.
