ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE HOWARD VERNON CO. Mr Howard Vernon’s grand sacred concert was given in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, .but owing to the bad weather the audience was not largo. The items were well selected and evoked decided applause, several encores being demanded. The following items were rendered: “I Know that My Redeemer Liveth” (Miss Do Loitte), “Beneath the Shadow of the Cross” (Miss Iris Vance), “The Holy City” (Mr. Howard Vernon), “The Sea of Glass 55 (iVliss Do Loitte and Miss Vance), duet and chorus “Jesu Dei Vive,” Daft s “Cavatina” Mr. F. Von Lubbe, and for an encore lie played Gounod’s “Ave Maria” ; “He Wipes the Tear From Every Eye” (Miss Vance), “■When the Year’s of Spring” (Miss De Loitte), “Excelsior” (Miss De Loitte and Miss Vance), “In the Dusk of the Twilight” (Mr. Howard Vernon and Miss De Loitte). To-night the company will present “A Trip to Chinatown,” which has been well received when given elsewhere. On Friday “Macairo,” a French musical comedy, will he staged. and on Saturday “Chrysanthemums.”
