INVERCARGILL, Dec. 23, The voting man who left the district while a charge of procuring liquor while prohibited was .pending against him was arrested at Clinton this morning. In the afternoon ho was brought before Mr. McCarthy, S.M., anil fined £5 and costs on the aforesaid charge. Ho was also charged with stealing a luat, the property of a person unknown, from a railway carriage, and remanded. Since the .reclamation scheme, with a view to establishing industries a.t Evans Bay, in. an arm of the harbor more distant from town has been mooted, tlio suggestion is made that the dock site should be changed to. this locality.
