(With Apologies to Longfellow.) .1 lu.v nonr the Bridge nt midnight, W'lton the clocks wore strikung the hour, And the' moon shone o or the Borough Behind the P.O. tower. I siuv the 'bright reflection, In the .waters from the son, Of those two thousand' sovereigns Which hnive been, .paid for mo. Along the papa .bottom The yellow shadows ilhy, . And the current that enuno from the ocean Seemed: to lift and boar them away. How often, and liow often, In the days as they gp bye, Will stand 011 that bridge at midnight, And gaze with .tearful eye. How often and how often., He will wislv that the ebbing 'tide Would bear me away on its bosom O’er the ocean wild and wide. —The Spring Poet.
