Air. Neill, who has been in tlio local Survey Office for some time, left yesterday morning for the To Fuia hot springs, where he will spend a holiday, after which he leaves for Dunedin on transfer.
At last Saturday’s meeting of the Bakers’ Union members presented the secretary* Air. G. E. Darton. with a handsome silver shaving-mug as a Christmas present. His Lordship the Bishop of Waiapu is remaining in Gisborne for a few days, but lie is not transacting any official business. Constable Irwin ,of the local force, resumes duty to-morrow morning after his recent indisposition. Constable Fernley, who lias been on relieving duty here, returns to Napier to-morrow evening. j
