ENTERTAINMENTS.

HOLY TRINITY CHRISTMAS TREE. Hie Majesty’s Theatre was crowded last night on the occasion of the Xmas tree entertainment under the auspices of the Holy Trinity Church. The first part of the omening consisted of a musical programme, which was opened by a pianoforte solo by Miss D. Robinson. Mr. E. C. Hamlin sang “Davy Jones’ Locker’ in good style and was heartily applauded. Miss Redstone was very pleasing in her rendition of “Daddy,” and Miss Pylco brought down the house with her humorous recitation, “How Misis Edith Helped Things. Along.” Messrs A. G. Laurenson and IT. DeCosta contributed the comic element, and their songs were thoroughly appreciated. The Rev. L. Dawson Thomas in a few words introduced the audience to the main featuro of the evening, the Ninas Tree, which was placed on the platform, and was beautifully decorated and illuminated by Japanese lanterns. Over 1600 presents were distributed from the tree to both adults and children, every person present receiving a gift. The din and noise in the theatre after the distribution can best he left to the imagination. Those responsible for the entertainment desire to take the opportunity of thanking all those who donated gi Its, and also those who contributed ?o the success of tlio gathering by their presence last evening. “A TRIP TO CHINATOWN.” The Howard Vernon Musical Comedy Company arrive by the A\ aikare to-morrow morning, and comnienoo their season at His Majesty s Theatre on Thursday, Boxing Night, when they willl present “A Trip to Chinatown.” In comedies of this nature it is not so much the plot ms tlio dressings which matter. The adventures of Welland Strong, tlio whimsical invalid. Bon Guz, the jolly old citizen who departs from the path of dignity for a while, and the entrancing widow, Mrs. Guzer, provide an excellent excuse for the introduction of comedy, vocalism, and dancing, which Mr. Vernon and the company intake tlio most of. During the action of the comedy the following items are introduced:— Miss Vinia do Loitfo sings “Love’s Echo,” “Spring,” “Jack-o’-Lantern Girl” ; Miss Vance, “When the Band Begins to Play,” “Dinah, the Moon am Shining,” “She Allways Dressed in Black.” Mr. Howard Vernon sings “Take off your Hats to the King,” “Mlademoselle New York,” “Little Pat Grey Mail” ; Miss.Foley,' “Tropical Moon,” “The Girl until the Naughty Wink.” Duets, “L.S.D.” and “Of Course.” On Christmas Night a special concert wil be given by the members of the company, when a selected programme will he presented.

COOPER’S OPERASCOPE. On New Year’s night Cooper’s Opera scope will open a season at His Majesty's Theatre. The chief feature' of the entertainment is a, cinematograph representation of Sullivan’s opera comique, “The Mikado,” all the pictures being colored. A number of .pictures of general i,interest will also" be shown, in addition to the latest comic films/ Musical items will be contributed by (Miss Louie I'islier and Mr. Hugh Willson.
