In the final for tho Ladies’ Singles in the tournament of the Gisborne Club, Mrs. Barlow beat Miss Del.autour by 50 to 48 after a close and interesting gamo. Tho fivo-sot scratch singles match for tho Hawley Cup and the championship of tho Gisborne Club’s green will bo played after Christmas. N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Dee. 22. Tho New Zealand lawntonnischiimpiotiship meeting opens hero next week. Good entries have been received: for tho men's singles 20, ladies singles 11, men’s doubles 9 pairs, laities' doubles 7 pairs, combined double's 14 pairs. All leading players, u itli the exception of Swanston, of Wellington, are represented, but his absence will be compensated for by the advent of tho ex-champion J. C. Peacock. Parker is expected from Sydney on Sunday. On tho conclusion of the New Zealand championships the Taranaki championship meeting will follow.
