Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. .22. A special Gazette lias been issued containing the following information. Tho collection, of the statistics be-o-an on October 14th, and continued until November 9th. Following is an interim return of the acreage under corn and green, crops and the amount of grain, etc., on hand: — Wheat—Area returned for tliresliing 1907-8, 192,084 acres; J. 906-7, 210,75 S acres; decrease, 18,074. The areas returned under the heading for “chaffing,” “ensilage,” and “feeding down” are:—l9o7-8, 83/ acres ; 1906-7, 812 acres, increase, 24 acres; total decrease, 18,050 acres. Oats—Area returned for threshing 1907-8, 386,626 acres, 1906-7, 371,974 acres; increase, 14,652. Tlie areas returned under tlie headings for “chaffing,” “ensilage,” and “feeding down” are: 1907-8, 291,016 acres ; 1906-7, 259,469 acres ; increase, 31,547 acres; total • ancvraase, 46,199 acres. , Tho following table shows the increases and decreases in acreage for tho vear in respect to the crops dealt with in this return:— INCREASES.
