Miss C. M. Burgess, Petaue, has been temporarily appointed mistress at the Mangapapa school. To-morrow Mr. T. Cahill, of Messrs. Robb Bros.’ staff, leaves for Auckland on a holiday. Advice lias been received in town that Mr. E. G. Matthews has passed the solicitors’ final law examination of the New Zealand. University, and that--Mr. Kane lias passed the first section of the same examination. A pretty wedding was solemnised yesterday at -the Catholic Church, when Mr. Walter A. Williamson was united to Miss IC. Farrell. bliss E. Banker was bridesmaid, and a numbor of friends gathered together to wish every happiness to the couple. At the Lutheran Cluirch, Danaievirke, early this week, Dr. Charles Scott, of Gisborne, was married to Miss Christina Fredsburg, the ceremony being performed by Pastor Rees. The bride was given away hv Mr. Henry Carlson. The bridesmaids .were. Miss-‘K. Jensen (cousin of tlie. bride) and Miss Ada. Carlson, aiul Mr. Gomer Smith, of Gisborno, acted as best nfan. After the ceremony tlie happy couple left- for Palmerston, en route to Sydney. The honeymoon is to he spent in the Blue Mountains. At Holy Trinity Church on. Wednesday afternoon Mr. F. W. Selves, third son of the late Mr. F. W. Selves, Rochester. Kent, England, was married to Miss C. C. L. Wildish, eldest diugliter of Mr. G. Wildish, Gisborne, tlie Rev. L. Dawson Thomas performing the ceremony. The bride was attended by her 'sisters, blisses Minna and Edie Wildish, and her cousins, blisses Muriel Morrison and Mabel Wildish, as bridesmaids, Mr. E. Law acting as best man. Tho newlv-married collide left after tho ceremony for Tatapouri, whero the honeymoon is to he spent.
