There is less demand and the trade is very disappointing, there being only a- hand-toinoiitli demand. The following are current quotations : - .Canterbury 3Jd, North Island 3gd, Australian. 21d, River Plato 3d. The lamb market is a shade weaker, owing to J&rge arrivals from' Australia. Canterbury lamb is at s§d, other than Canterbury s£d. Tho beef market is steady. The demand has been chisflyfor force;uarters. Quotations are: Hindquarters 31d, forequarters 2nd. The butter market is very firm. There is a geat demand in the market for Christmas trade, and it is, estimated supplies will ho short. Choicest New, Zealand butter is at 120 s, Australian 117 s, Argentine 117 s, Danish 1235, Siberian 109 s; saltless 2s less than tho .above .p.riccs. Damaged blitter from the 3.9. Turakina is realising 112 s. 'There ia a better demand -for cheese. White manufactured is at 60s, colored 61s. The hemp market is quiet, small business doing. The following are current quotations: Good, fair grade, c : spot, £29; fair grade, on spot, £2B: fair current Manila, spot. £29 10s; January ■'to ’March shipments, .good fair grade, £27; fair current Manila £29.°
