Connor is progressing satisfactorily at the hospital, but will not be out of danger for the next -1 Jas. Long, charged' with assault' ing Will. Jack by striking Ins head witli a bottle, avas remanded till LUonday next, bail being allowed; accused in '£loo, and sureties for an additional £IOO. ’ Jack is in hospital suffering from the effect of tho blow, but is doing .well. WELLINGTON. . At a meeting of Cabinet to-day it was .resolved l to effect temporary .repairs to tho present building, and hold the next session of Parliament there. The question of ,re-erecting Parliament buildings will bo decided next session. Further hearing of the caso arising out of the alleged ejectment of an exhibitor from the Exhibition promises was continued to-day, when Mr {M uim> was cross-examined at length. Witness stated that when tho tender of Scott, the plaintiff in the case, iwas accepted, lie was not promised any consideration, and he never received •any. All ho over got for helping Scott was a betrayal of confidence. “As to tho presumption,” witness added, “that Scott gave me something to do it, I want the world to know that I got nothing 'for it.” Asked if ho had net quarrelled with the Commissioners, witness said ho did not think he did. The steamer immediately resumed her voyage.
