NUHAKA NORTH. (from our correspondent.) AA 7 ednesday. Dry weather continues here, and water in some localities is getting very scarce. Many of the small creeks are dry, and most of the tanks require refilling. Good progress is being made with rfche work of shearing. Bush fires were started on Tuesday, and are now burning in Mangaone, Tarewa, More-re, and AAharerata districts, and some good burns are reported A painful accident occurred to Hr. Arthur Richardson on the Maraenui road, Tarewa,- oil Sunday last. It appears lie was in the act of mounting his horse, when the animal was startled by a dog suddenly appearing on tho road, Tlie rider was thrown heavily to the ground and rendered unconscious, injuring his loft leg. Tho sufferer was carried to his home by Messrs Johnston, Jackson, and J. aiid AV. Richardson. Under Dr. Somerville’s care the patient is progressing favorably. Tlio influenza epidemic is very prevalent in tho district. Many of the residents are having a had time, being either laid up or just recovering from tho complaint.
