Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. Two cases under tlie Shops and Offices Act were brought before Dr. McArthur, S.tM., this morning. James Fairway was charged with having employed three assistants more than 52 hours, exclusive of meal times, during a week in April, 1907. Jonathan -Jones xvas charged with- a similar offence. Tlie cases had been sent down from tho Appeal Court for a conviction to be recorded. Oil the first occasion when the Magistrate dealt .with the cases they wore carried to the Appeal Court, which reversed the decision of the Magistrate. His Worship this morning convicted both accused, but imposed no penalty. Costs were not allowed.
