THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE,
DECREASE ON SHIPMENTS TO DATE.
RUT A GOOD SEASON ANTICIPATED. Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. Owing to the lateness of spring the export season in the Auckland frozen meat trade Irm been very much delayed. Up to this time last year thousands of quarters of beef had been shipped Home, in fact throughout October (he shipments of beef, from Aucklm -.k were exceedingly large. This was perhaps to a certain extent due Do the fact that a freight' war was then on between the shipping companies, and it was a farthing per lb cheaper to consign frozen meat to the Home market. So far this sea-, son there has not been a single shipment of bi;ef. Freights are up, and the blight was such that there was no winter feed on which to carry stock over. 13'. loro Xmas last year 1 000 lambs bad been shipped to England. This season ■ tliero will not be 1000. Nevertheless, in the opinion of Mr. Stringer, secretary of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company, _ this season will be a good onc, though very late. . •
