TARANAKI TRAMWAY PROPOSALS.

ELTHAM, Dec. 9.; A meeting of delegates of local iodies interested in the tramway proposals was held to-day, and a report Cf erred back to the bodies-interested for discussion. The delegates from Jpunake expressed the opinion that vnile the town of Opunake would rate itself, Egmont County as a .."hole would not favor the scheme. In the event,of-Egmont County rei using to join in, it is probable that lie Eltham County Council will construct a line as far-as Atwoa road, and secure permission to carry the lino right, on to Opunake over Egnoii t County Council roads if circumstances warrant.
