A MAORI SUICIDE
INQUEST. An inquest was held on Wednesday last at Mr. C. H. Seymour’s residence, AVhangara, beforo Air. J. Biddles, J.P., acting coroner, touching the death of H-.ipeta iHaraki, who was found hanging in his tent on Tuesday. The following iury was empannelled :—(Messrs. Clias. -H. Seymour (foreman), A. -J. Turnbull, H. Ellwers, G. Hawkins, D. Leach. E. J. Turner.—Hane Tnruwliao. wife of deceased, stated that she last saw him on the Monday evening. Prior to this witness' and deceased had a quarrel respecting witness going to a dance. Notwithstanding the -disagreement deceased did not seem to lie despondent in any way. Witness next saw deceased hanging from the ridge pole of his tent.—Evidence was also given by Reremoana and Hirini Tatirrcna.—-The finding of the jury was that deceased met his death by suicide.
