Press Association. AUCKLAND. An Apia correspondent writes that the vole mo on Savii continues to throw out enormous quantities of lava. It is highly probable a large area under the sea is being thrust upwards. A trader who lately passed over this section of the sea bottom was astonislicVfito note it hat during the night time lightnings were apparently playing about on the ocean bottom some 10 fathoms or so beneath his boat. Some of the sea ■water which came into the boat was so. hot ias to nearly scald his crew. Apparently the line of volcanic activity runs, from west to east. It is not at all unlikely that a new uud perhaps very terrible eruption will breqk out under the. sea at the point indicated. DUNEDIN. Some buildings condemned by the district health officer not having been removed, proceedings are to be instituted against the owners. WELLINGTON. Tfie Chinese in Wellington, including mo t of the moiiTed men, have just formed an association for the protection of their interests.' One object will be taking steps to protect members from insult, which they say lias been extremely frequent in Wellington lately.
