Press Association. BLENHEIM, Dec. 5. Robert Burgess, charged m the i-i.ipreme Court with robbery with violence, was acquitted. The- criminal business lias now concluded. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 5. In the Divorce Court, before Mr. Justice Chanman, Emily Taut petitioned for a' dissolution of marriage with Samuel Fullerton Tait„ on the grounds of desertion. The parties were married in July, 1878, at, Christchurch, and petitioner said ■their married life was unhappy, owing to respondent’s drinking habits. He left her finally in January, 1900, ■making no provision for her and no licne. A decree nisi was granted. Emily Jane "Winiton charged a decree ’ nisi against George "Winiton, who had disappeared eight years ago, and no trace of him had been found by tlio police. A decree nisi was also granted. In the cases of Lilian Rowlands v. Wan. Rowlands, wife’s petition, oil the grounds of adultery and cruelty; Annie Preece Charles Preece, desertion ; Albert Money v. Helen Money, adultery; George H. Burt v. Margaret Burt, desertion; Anna May Charlton r. John Robert Charlton, adultery; Peter _ Good v. Elizabeth Good, desertion; Ada Elizabeth Irvino v, Tarn Irvine, desertion, decrees, nisi in each case wero granted, to be made absolute in three months. INVERCARGILL, Dec. 5. Charles Cecil Smith, charged today with the theft of a watch, chain, and pendant, was remanded to Gore on bail, self in, £IOO, and two sureties of £SO each.
