THE GISBORNE CLUB. Yesterday afternoon the. greens of the Gisborne Club presented an unusually festive appearance, the occasion being the first of the At Homes” for ladies which the Club lias decided to inaugurate Afternoon tea was provided by the X resident, Mr. W. Pettie, and was handed round by the Misses Hyde and a number of other young ladies. . lhei e was a goodly muster of the fair sex, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The President expressed Jus pleasure at the cordial manner .in which the Club’s invitation to tnc ladies had been accepted, and trust; d til at on similar occasions in the suture they would be present in even .larger numbers. Martin (24) beat Kyine and Eure (23) Ordinary Gaines—Bullock and Totrio (24) beat Martin and Ponstord (14) ■ Colebrook, Cussen, F. Pettie, Thomson (27) beat Kvme, Redstone, Ii Lewis, Witty (13); Robertson, "Wilson, Miller, Brady (16), Fordyce, H. Lewis, Clarkson, Corson (16); Preston, Q’Meara, Malcolm, Ambridge (25) beat Hansen, Lucas, Morgan, Seymour (19). Rep. match—Eure, Williams, Hennessv, Martin (21) beat Pettie, Robertson, Coleman, Crawford (If). TURANGANUI CLUB. Five rinks were engaged yesterday on tho Turanganui Club’ji green, which was playing better than ever previously this season, the games all being close and enjoyable. Tlie interest centred on the Handicap Pairs games, which resulted as follows : R. Skeet and "Williams (21) heat McSldmming and Nasmith jun (14); Birrell and J. J. Martin (21) beat McConnell and Hallam (11) Nasmith had an uphill fight all through his game. On the third to last head he drew within one of the leaders, but 'Williams scoring four and three in the two last heads, won by the good margin of seven points 111 the other game Birrell secured the lead from tlie jump, and the issue was never 111 doubt.
