The disaster occurred during a blinding snow-storm. Six hundred passengers landed by means of baskets. [The Mount Temple is a steel t winscrew steamer of 7656 registered tonnage, the property of the CanadiunPacific Railway Company. She was built in 1901 by Armstrong, Whitworth, and Co., of Newcastle, and registered at Liverpool.]
