TURANGANUI CLUB. At the above club’s green on Saturday afternoon a practice match was indulged in between the rep. rinks, Hepburn acting as substitute skip for Ganelin. The game ended 22 all, but Martin’s team secured tho extra head. A number of other players put in useful practice in view of tho first round of the Handicap Pairs, which is to bo completed by Thursday week.
ROWING. On Friday the first races for the trophies presented by Mr. E. H. Gibbon were decided by the Gisborne Rowing Club, Bright beating Buscke and Kershaw beating Cumming. On Saturday Bayly met and defeated Hamilton. To-night Bright and Bayly try conclusions, and to-morrow Kershaw rows the winner in the final. Two more heats in the Poverty Bay Club’s double sculls were rowed on Saturday. Seymour (2sec) got a bad start in his race with Jones (scr) and. did not have much advantage from tiis handicap. The boats were soon running level, and Jones finally won, alter a good race, by about four feet, there was a good start in the race jet.veen Lowe (6sec) and A' - Johnston Nsec), Lowe winning by about a tength and a half. This evening R. iVillunson (14sec) will meet C. Clark osec) in the last race in the first •omul, and in the second round A. Kirk (14sec) meets C. Somervell (osec) and A. Burnett (4sec) meets R. Jones (scr).

The first half was severely contested, Dewsbury and Batley obtaining a try. Afterwards she visitors’ threequarters proved the stronger, New Zealand winning by 3 goals and 4 tries (18 points) to Dews:>nry and Batley’s 1 goal and 2 tries (8 points). ,
