Several thousand Bonis Hassen tribesmen and members of two other tribes crossed the Algerian frontier mil attacked Babelassa. The French were at first- compelled to retire, but when reinfo-ced regained Babelassa, and drove the Moroccans over the frontier. Fnr a time the French were in a tight corner. E'even tirailleurs and. -an -officer were, killed and a number wounded. 'The fight lasted lor six hours.
