NELSON, Nov. 27. On Saturday morning Mr. J. Thorn's dwelling, St-anleybrook, was burnt down. lUie fire started in ail outbuilding, and spread to the
•house. It was impossible to save the place, owing to the absence of water, but some furniture and a piano were rescued. The house was almost new, and two-storied. ASHBURTON. Nov. 27.
A fire occurred at the gasworks early this morning, and resulted in the destruction of the storeroom and
workshop and a number of old meters. (The supply will nut be affected, and it is understood the damage does not exceed ”100. The insurances are not available.
