He must have crossed there by means of a saddle ti ack from Seacliffe, a distance of 40 ir lies, in a southerly direction. Ho w as wearing sandals, and was bareheaded; otherwise he was dressed as w hen he made his escape. When he v as observed Terry was close to a a sttler’s house, and an invitation to I'partake of the meal was declined. He. ; proceeded inland in the direction of Middlemarch.
