AVord has been received an town of the acceptance by tho Rev. VVu-1-]ia in Dumb of the appointment (to the pastorato of the Gisborno Tabernacle. Ho is at present on a visit to the Old Country and will return and commence his duties early next year. , Air C. R. Neale, Government Veterinarian, who leaves for Timar.u to-morrow, wis farewelled on Thursday evening at a gathering in the Fanner’s Union Olui'b. Air AA'. Pettie presided and made flattering reference to the guest of the evening. A number of toasts were honored and a long musical programme gone through. Oram’s duties in tho local office. Tho following are visitors at the Aiasonic Hotel: —Alesdames Hutchinson (AVaihuka), C. Hutchinson (Te Karalta), E. B. Thompson, Messrs. J. Goivll, A. 11. Oswin, A. Willows, H. ICenway, and G. S. Kemip. Last night the officers of the Boat and Telegraph Department met 'to make a presentation to Air. 11. Sheen, who was recently married, Air. Cummings, in making the presentation, apologised for Air. Renner’s absence, and in a few wellchosen words wished Air. and Airs Sheen all health and prosperity. Alessrs. Fison and Ogilvy endorse-; Air. Cummings’ remarks. Air. Sheen suitably responded. The present took the form of an oak biscuit barrel and butter dish, silver kettle, and. salt cellars and spoons, suitably engraved. Dr. AVallaco Alackenzio, of AVel lington, is in town, and is staying at the Aiasonic Hotel.
