“BANK TO BANK” CLAUSE.
TROUBLE AT WESTPORT. Press Association. WESTPORT, Nov. 18. At the Westport Coal Company’s collieries some friction has been caused by the coming into force of the “hank to bank” clause. The company allego that the present agreement is in accord with the clause, but the miners interpret it differently, and commenced to work on Saturday under their interpretation, which, it is said, means a difference of 40 minutes’ travelling time daily. The miners declined to consider anything in the nature of compromise. It is probable the Arbitration Court will be asked to consider Hie difficulty.
