A COMING LIBEL ACTION.
LOCAL GOSiSIP TAKES DEFINITE SHAPE. For three or four weeks rumors of a varied nature have been going the rounds regarding a local resident. As is natural, of course, these rumors have gained bulk with every telling, and with hearing the tales of first ono side and then the other, residents can now hardly toll the real truth of the matter. The matter has now, however, been brought to a head. Some time ago it was announced in these col.nm.iis that a police court caso in connection with tlio incident was coming on, hut this has not eventuated. It is now understood that tlie resident in question has taken action to put the question beyond doubt. In a weekly newspaper of recent date appeared a strongly-worded account o-f the incident, which set out ,to be oiie side of tlio question. The resident chiefly involved lias entered a writ for criminal libel,, and it is understood that a number of prominent citizens will he called upon to giv© evidence when the case is heard.
