AUSTRALIAN MAIL CONTRACT.
SIGNED BY ORIENT COMPANY. Jnited Press Association—Copyrigdt MELBOURNE, Nov. 15. The mail contract has been signed by the Orient Company, under which tho Federal Government nrovides a ton years’ subsidy of £17,000 per annum. Under the contract five now steamers of not less than 11,000 tons are to be built, with a speed of 17 knots.
