The Governor of New York State has apjiointed a committee to invesigato the State’s banking busixss. Owing to the stringency' of cash a id tho absence of orders, for a radius of 30 miles round Pittsburg 48,000 employees havo been discharged from factories, 2000 from railways, and half the hands in Indianopolis manufactories. Twenty-one sawmills in AA'insconsin have closed, throwing 6000 out of work. Mr. Pierpont Morgan is negotiating with tlio Bank of Franco to transfer to New York gold valued at three millions sterling. The total imported up to yesterday was twelve millions.
