NATIVE LAND BILL.

Special to Times. AVELLINGTON, Nov 14,

Tlio forty Maoris who held a meeting in AA’ellington last week to consider the Native Land Settlement Bill have petitioned Parliament, through the Hon. Mahuta To AYLerewhero, asking that the measure should be postponed until next session because of the limited time allowed for consideration of the matter by tho Nativo race. “There are many features in that Bill we know for certain will not meet the approval of tho Maoris who own the land investigated by the Royal Commission, and which is intended to be placed under this Act,” states the petition, which concludes with, the opinion that the Bill should be considered at various meetings of tlie people to be convened immediately after the prorogation of Parliament.
