VALEDICTORY.

BAND SECRETARY BICKFORD. There was a' large gathering of members and friends of the City Baud last night at Dustin’s rooms, tho occasion being a farewell to Mr, A. M. Bickford, lately secretary of the Band, who is about to leave for Auckland. Mr. J. Brown, vice-pre-sident, presided in. tho unu-voidable absence of Mr. J. Town ley, .president.

The following toasts were b.cnored ;—“North Island Brass Bands Association,” proposed by Mr. Spurdlo; and responded to by Mr. A. M. Bickford; “President, Vice-Presid-ents, Life Members, and Honorary Members,” pro-posed by Air. McConnell, responded to by Messrs. AAA AA’ebb, C. Adair, G. E. Barton,. Beere, and J. Brown; “The Departing Guest,” proposed by Air. Beero, responded to by Air. A. Al. Bickford; “Volunteers,’? proposed by Air. F. Albrecht, responded to by Oapt. Beere and Q.Ai.iS. Zaoliariah ; “Present Officers,” proposed by Air. C. Adliir, responded to by Alessrs. Richards and McConnell; “The Press,” proposed by Mr. Richards; “The Ladies,” proposed by Air. Afiiiller, responded to by Alessrs. E. Pettie and J. DorO.

During the evening songs were given by Alessrs. Zaoliariah, Laurenson, Trent, N. Galloway, and Miller. Air. Dudley Trent made a capable pianist. The gathering broke up with tho singing of “Aultl Lang Syne.” ■
